Videoconferencing Technologies
Where videoconferencing technologies can be used
The Stan Cassidy Centre is equipped with videoconferencing
equipment in therapy rooms, in meeting rooms and in offices.
It can connect with other videoconferencing equipment in other
hospitals and schools in New Brunswick (or almost anywhere in the
world).
We are currently experimenting with secure videoconferences
between SCCR and patient's homes using high speed Internet. We
also have videophones available.
Why videoconferencing technologies are used
Videoconferencing is used
for a variety of purposes such as
- assess patients
- follow-up on patients progress and make recommendations,
- discuss care plans with the patient's local team
- provide education to patients, families, support providers and/or clinicians,
- conduct meetings,
- supervise students
Our IP videoconferencing equipment also allows our staff to receive education from Centers of expertise in other provinces or countries.
Although videoconferencing cannot replace all face-to-face sessions, it saves participants from travelling so it saves time, energy and money.
