What is Psychiatry?
Psychiatry deals with the study and treatment of mental disorders. These disorders inlcude: affective, behavioural and perceptual abnormalities.
What I need to know
Treatment may be delivered on an inpatient or outpatient basis, depending on the severity of impairment or on other aspects of the disorder in question.
A psychiatrist is a physician who has obtained additional qualifications to become a specialist in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illness and emotional problems.
