What are Rehabilitation Services?
Rehabilitation services aim to help patients return to the
highest level of function and independence possible, while
improving the overall quality of life - physically, emotionally and
socially. Patients receiving such services include those who
have suffered a stroke, traumatic brain injury or spinal cord
injury as well as orthopedic patients, amputee patients, patients
with neurological disorders and burn patients.
What I need to know
Admission to a Rehabilitation program is determined by the rehabilitation team according to established admission criteria.
A patient's rehabilitation may consist of a team that includes all or a combination of any of the following: physiatrist, family physician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech-language pathologist, social worker, dietitian, nurse manager, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, ward clerk and physician administrative support.
