Scabies in Charlotte County Area
(St. Stephen) August 10, 2017
- We are informing the public that there have been several reported
cases of scabies in the Charlotte County area.
Scabies is an infestation of the skin by the human
itch mite. The most common symptoms of scabies are intense itching
and a pimple-like skin rash.
Scabies is most often spread by direct, prolonged, skin-to-skin contact with a person who has scabies.
Scabies should be diagnosed by a doctor and can be effectively treated with medications. For this reason, anyone that has been experiencing symptoms is encouraged to visit their family practitioner for an examination.
Scabies is not life threatening and is curable with a treatment.
