(Horizon) November 17, 2017 - Ten years after opening its doors to patients, Horizon's Upper River Valley Hospital is marking the milestone with a special celebration.

"It's been an honour caring for the people in our communities over the last ten years," said David Moore, Executive Director for Horizon's Upper River Valley. "We're proud of our dedicated staff and we're pleased to be a part of the Horizon family."

Festivities include lunch, cake and a photo slideshow of key moments in the hospital's history.

An evening dance will take place tonight at the Covered Bridge Golf & Country Club in Hartland, including live music, refreshments, and door prizes.

The hospital opened to patients on November 18, 2007. It remains the most modern health care facility in New Brunswick, and is also the most environmentally friendly. The hospital's conservation initiatives include collecting rainwater to use in washrooms and using locally produced building materials. In 2014, it was named one of the top 30 most technologically advanced hospitals in the world by Top Master's in Healthcare Administration.

"We're proud to celebrate a decade of care at this facility, along with our staff and physicians, volunteers and auxiliary," said Karen McGrath, President and CEO of Horizon Health Network.
