Horizon’s third annual Community Health Recognition Awards now accepting submissions

(Horizon) December 13, 2018 - Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is seeking nominations and submissions for the 2019 Community Health Recognition Awards. These awards acknowledge and celebrate individuals and groups making a difference to improve overall health in their community.

"We're excited to recognize our community partners for a third consecutive year," said Karen McGrath, President and CEO of Horizon. "We have a diverse group of partners who do magnificent work in our communities, including physicians, and we look forward to providing well-earned recognition."

A total of 15 awards are handed out by Horizon, three each for the Fredericton, Miramichi, Moncton, Saint John and Upper River Valley areas. Winners receive a plaque and $500 toward their organization.

New this year is the physician category! As important contributors to helping people be healthy, physicians can now be nominated for their work with community-based programs or initiatives outside of their practice.

Horizon will recognize individuals and groups who understand the importance of health and well-being and are working to improve the factors that negatively affect population health in their community.

The Community Health Recognition Awards are awarded based on the following categories:

  • Seniors Wellness
  • Youth Wellness
  • Multicultural Health
  • Food Security
  • Accessibility
  • Mental Health
  • Physicians

"Since the awards' inception in 2017, I have enjoyed learning about the selfless work that's being done to fulfill Horizon's vision of helping people be healthy," said Jean Daigle, VP of Community for Horizon. "It's a privilege to recognize them for the work they do to improve the health of their communities and I look forward to meeting the 2019 winners."
