Horizon celebrates 15 community partners who are Helping People Be Healthy
(Horizon) April 25, 2019 - Horizon Health Network (Horizon) announced the 15 winners of the 2019 Community Health Recognition Awards (CHRAs) at the quarterly Board meeting in Miramichi today. The awards acknowledge and pay tribute to individuals and groups that are making a difference to improve overall health in their community.
There were more than 50 submissions this year and Horizon's Local Community Engagement Committees voted to select three winners each in the Fredericton, Miramichi, Moncton, Saint John and Upper River Valley areas. Winners received $500 towards their program or service, a glass award and a certificate.
Karen McGrath, president and CEO of Horizon, said all the submissions showed such great community spirit and she is proud to know Horizon's partners are hard at work to make the healthy choice the easy choice in their communities.
"These groups are doing tremendous work to make their community a better place today and for years to come," said McGrath. "I am so proud of their work and want to congratulate all the 2019 CHRA winners."
Jean Daigle, VP of Community for Horizon, said the CHRA winners understand the importance of health and well-being and are working to improve the factors that impact population health in their community.
"No one knows their community better than the people who live there," said Daigle. "Our partners are doing such great work to ensure our communities are getting the services they need. They are helping people be healthy every day and that's to be applauded."
