Nurse Practitioner Provides Primary Health Care in Salisbury

(MONCTON) July 16, 2019 - Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is pleased to announce a nurse practitioner has begun providing primary health care to residents in the Salisbury area.

The nurse practitioner is located within the Guardian Pharmacy, 3154 Main St., Salisbury and will offer services every Monday and Friday. The phone number is 506-372-3319.

"Horizon has been listening to the needs of the community and is happy to have a nurse practitioner working in Salisbury," said Jean Daigle, Horizon's Vice President Community. "This will allow more residents to have access to a primary health care provider, removing them from the patient registry. None of this would have been possible without the collaboration from the Village of Salisbury and the Guardian Pharmacy."

New patients to the Salisbury office have been taken from the Patient Connect NB registry, allowing some of those who have been waiting access to a primary care provider. There will be no after-hours or walk-in appointments offered.

"Access to a primary health care provider was a priority identified by the community, during the Community Health Needs Assessment for Salisbury, Petitcodiac and the surrounding area," said Kathleen Buchanan Horizon's director of primary health care for the Moncton area.  "Patients are being contacted and the reception has been positive."

Nurse practitioners are trained to diagnose and treat common acute health problems, monitor and manage chronic diseases, and prescribe diagnostic testing, medications and other treatments.

If you are seeking a primary care provider, you are encouraged to register with Patient Connect NB by calling Tele-Care 811 or visiting the website.
