(HORIZON) Thursday, November 18, 2021- Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is supportive of the collaborative approach that is central to the new Provincial Health Plan.

It is important for Horizon to work with its partners to ensure health care services are available in a reasonable time, and New Brunswickers have access to other health care options, including reliable access to their primary health care provider.

"All of New Brunswick's health care partners need to work together to improve health care services for New Brunswickers", said Dr. John Dornan, Interim President and CEO for Horizon Health Network. "If we do nothing to address our primary challenges, our issues will persist, and New Brunswickers will experience longer wait times and fewer services - we can't let this happen."

Horizon is encouraged by the Department of Health's new Provincial Health Plan and looks forward to the improvements that working as one connected system will bring.

The new Provincial Health plan aligns with Horizon's strategic plan, entitled Building a Healthier Future,released in April 2021, and outlines how Horizon will improve the way they provide health care services to their patients, clients and their families, over the next five years. 

Horizon's strategic plan, which was developed after extensive consultations with staff and physicians, patients, clients and families, focuses on allocating resources to address the health care challenges across the organization. It aligns and supports the initiatives in our new Provincial Health Plan.

Horizon will collaborate with Vitalité Health Network, the Government of New Brunswick, and New Brunswick's health care partners to find solutions and work together as one health system to serve the health care needs of New Brunswickers.
