Leadership Reorganization

(HORIZON) February 21, 2013 - A new Horizon Health Network Executive Management Team was announced today by John McGarry, President and CEO of Horizon Health Network.

"My commitment to efficiency and effectiveness begins at the top of the organization," Mr. McGarry said. "The Executive Management Team is structured for more accountability and to focus on strategic matters."

"Our mission 'Caring for People' is reflected in the new structure focusing the appointment of four Vice Presidents that will lead health care teams," he said.

The reorganization reduces the Executive Management Team to seven from 12, and reduces the number of Vice Presidents, including Chief Operating Officer, to five from 11. The new Executive Management Team includes:

Jean Daigle, Vice President of Community, will be responsible for mental health and addictions, public health, community health centres and clinics, Extra Mural Program and First Nations Liaison.

Gary Foley, Vice President of Professional Services, will responsible for therapeutic services, laboratories, diagnostic services and Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation.

Geri Geldart, Vice President of Clinical will be responsible for all clinical work in acute care hospitals.

Dr. Édouard Hendriks, Vice President of Medical, Academic and Research Services is responsible for ethics services, research, medical administration and education, physician recruitment and NB Distributed Medical Education Program.

An addition to the Executive Management Team is Andrea Seymour, Chief Operating Officer Corporate Services who is responsible for optimizing the four organizational support systems (budget, people, plant assets and measurement tools).  This senior position will provide comprehensive support to the clinical team of Vice Presidents allowing for the daily operations to run safely and efficiently.

The Executive Management Team will also include Janet Hogan, Corporate Director of Communications and Community Relations to ensure the public's perspective, and support networks such as the foundations, volunteers and auxiliary are always considered in deliberations.

"Several members of the current Executive Management Team will continue in new roles within Horizon Health Network and I would like to express my appreciation for their support and leadership," said Mr. McGarry.

The Executive Management Team must have a strong focus on tomorrow's issues facing Horizon and the public we serve. They are tasked with a significant mandate to build a strong, sustainable health care system for today and the future.
