Myeloma is a cancer that occurs when myeloma cells multiply in bone marrow, interfering with the production of healthy red and white blood cells, and platelets. It is a relatively unknown cancer, and research plays an important role in developing new drugs and treatments to improve the quality and length of life for myeloma patients. Following the James Lind Alliance (JLA) method, the Myeloma Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) is led by Dr. Anthony Reiman and governed by a Steering Group that has equal representation from people living with myeloma, caregivers, and healthcare providers. This group is working to identify and prioritize questions about myeloma that can be answered through research-and, importantly, reflect the needs of people with myeloma and those who care for them.
